Alternative pop maverick Halsey returned with her brand new single Now Or Never yesterday.
The video, which was shot in Mexico City, comes to life as a gritty, cinematic reflection of the song.
“The video for Now Or Never is one part in the center of a long narrative that tells the story of two people in love despite the forces trying to keep them apart,” says Halsey. “On its own the song is about two impatient young lovers, but in the context of the hopeless fountain kingdom universe, the stakes are much higher for these two star-crossed lovers."
The track is the first taste of her second full-length album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, set for release on June 2nd.
Now Or Never rattles with a soulful refrain over dystopic, shuddering synths. The vocals segue from a delicate croon into an R&B-style bridge, highlighting her impressive range.
Halsey catapulted onto the scene in 2015, as her full-length debut Badlands bowed at number 2 on the Billboard Top 200. She followed her amazing debut success with sold-out arena tours and received a 2017 Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for Closer, her megahit with The Chainsmokers.
